Sensibilisation à l’Europe auprès des jeunes en milieu rural

Active throughout the department, the Francas de Dordogne supports different children’s, youth’s, leaders’ and structures’ projects. Dordogne is a rural and aging department, with an unequally distributed service offer on the department, children are gradually confronted with some issues related to interculturalism and young people often have difficulties to access to information in all areas of life (including the European mobility opportunities).The hosting EVS organization, the Communauté de Communes du Pays Ribéracois (CCPR) is a French intercommunale organization, member to Francas de Dordogne, which has different skills, such as Childhood-Youth, Social, Contracting Policies et Social and Cultural Center. The CCPR includes 46 rural districts, 30 schools, 2 middle schools, 1 high school, 46 pre-school and extra-curricular hosting places.The project "Europe awareness toward youth in rural area" aims to enrich the organization’s activities, by developing an intercultural focus, with these main objectives:1. Help the CCPR’s team to live a rich and formative intercultural experience2. Help the CCPR to play a part in shaping a shared Europe3. Encourage active involving of a young European girl with a project aiming to promote intercultural discoveries and exchanges within children and young people4. Develop Francas’s partnerships which would offer futures possibilities and diversification of educational range5. Encourage a volunteer to develop activities opened to the world and a language and culture awareness6. Enable a volunteer to take initiatives, participate in decisions of actions and will be in contact with other young and figures in public lifeA German volunteer girl, 18 years old, will be hosted in the CCPR. The mission will begin in September and will last 12 months so that the volunteer can take the time to integrate into the local community and within the structure. This will also allow the volunteer to discover and understand how the different projects in France which take place on the school years. 12 months will also give her the opportunity to develop the best and thoroughly the project and its activities and to set up a personal project if she wishes.As EVS ambassador, the volunteer will have to promote EVS. She will participate in an “European education” for the children and the young people hosted in the various structures. She will participate in the implementation of Youth European exchanges, will propose linguistic and intercultural activities, and will co-lead groups of children on various activities (sports, cultural, scientific). She will strongly be encouraged to feed the blog of the Pole Childhood Youth. The volunteer will also participate in institutional or associative authorities for the European or international mobility promotion.Frequent contacts with local youth will promote communication and integration of the young volunteer in the French community, and we hope that the children and youth can discover another culture and that it makes them want to live an experience abroad or to get involved in an international dimension project.Evolving in several organizations, the German volunteer will have the chance to practice and learn by doing, through non-formal education methods that are used in the team. By allowing the young volunteer to develop skills and acquire knowledge in a non-formal way, EVS will encourage employability, and by offering a rich cultural experience and international mobility, it will help her personal development.The CCPR team and representatives will benefit from exchanges on the volunteer’s culture, traditions, her way of seeing things and her work view. This hosting project will bring a new dynamic, and will help the CCPR team and representatives to interrogate their own practice and to innovate new methods/approaches toward different publics.As for the departmental association of Francas de Dordogne, it will have the chance to share the actions performed by the volunteer with its local, regional, national and European partners, in order to create, to lots of people, desire to get involved in the European Voluntary Service.
