Seniors in Action is a project in line with the EU for “active ageing” policies having a linethat reads “It is never too late to learn”. The project brings together two different socialgroups by means of educational and cultural approaches – the elderly and the youngergeneration. Project partners from Bulgaria, Greece, France, Italy, Latvia, Romania,Slovenia and Spain will train senior citizens who have special skills (honey producers,organic farmers, horseshoers, mathematicians, poets, chess players, painters) tobecome more active in the form of informal educators for pupils. The project will: createan infrastructure between the seniors and the partners; utilize their knowledge and lifeexperiences and pass them on to teachers and children 9-12 years old; consolidate atransnational network among the elderly who are going to initiate exchange projects foreducating pupils on their skills potential; secure proper dissemination and valorization ofthe results. The main output is the creation of a transnational group of senior citizensThe main activities of the project are: awareness raising activities; elaboration of an adhoc need analysis and an assessment survey; recruitment and training activities forseniors on creative, story-telling presentations; support and guidance sessions forseniors; a peer learning meeting and a transnational meeting of senior citizens forsharing experiences and best practice; production of a DVD documentary of seniorcitizens’ profiles and competences; pilot sessions with pupils; information and contactseminars for teachers; briefings with local decision makers; dissemination activities.
