Seminar "Breaking Barriers for Common Europe"
Start date: Aug 1, 2012,

Europe and its potential for further enlargement increasingly exert a direct influence on the life of young people within the EU and its Neighboring Countries. The general topic of the seminar “Breaking Barriers for Common Europe” is the European Citizenship and it will focus on the current situation within the Eastern Partnership Program, the current stage of EU cooperation with the pre-accession countries and the role of young people in these processes. The seminar will bring together 33 participants from 11 youth organizations from the EU (Czech Republic, Greece, Slovenia, Italy), pre-accession countries (Croatia, Turkey) and from the EECA (Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine, Russian Federation) region. What is most significant is that this seminar will bring together young people from disadvantaged regions both EU and EECA, e.g Italians leaving in an island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, Armenians, Georgians from a region with number of closed boarders and conflicts, Belarus with its political situation, this will help to trigger very interesting debate, and success stories of Croatia and the uncertain situation over Turkey’s accession to EU will provide different perspectives. The objectives of this seven day seminar are but not limited to; • explore the concept of citizenship in general and European citizenship in particular• discuss, debate and share their views on different stages of European cooperation• reflect on the role of the young people and the youth work in the processes to understand weather the youth engagement was provided enough or if there is a room for improvement• share best practices of successful cooperation with the organizations from Neighboring Countries.During the seminar we will invite experts that are actively involved in the Eastern Partnership process and we will organize a meeting with the representatives of the EC Delegation to Armenia. The Seminar will take place on 21-28 September, 2012 in Dilijan, Armenia.
