Self-portrait: Do you actually know your digital shadow?
The aim of this project is an international exchange of teachers and their pupils in the domain of arts. The project is based on a common topic called “self-portrait: do you actually know your digital shadow?” and is going to result in an exhibition of the artworks.“Self-portrait” is quite a traditional theme in art lessons, where pupils generally learn drawing, painting or even sculpting techniques to make a representation of their portrait. By adding the subtitle “do you actually know your digital shadow?” the "Ecole Privée Fieldgen" would like to open the subject to deal with it in a more contemporary way. Digital shadow means the data traces somebody is leaving in his daily life by for example chatting on the Internet, using Facebook or other instant messengers, shopping with Visa etc. The digital shadow is a part of somebody's portrait that one is not often aware of.With this project the "Ecole Privée Fieldgen" would like to stimulate a dialogue on the complexity (the interest and the chances as well as the dangers) of the subject matter and arouse pupils’ creativity to find artistic ways to make self-portraits that focus on this particular aspect.
