The group EVS project "SEED GUARDIANS Support for Agroecological Production and .Implementation of Seed Centres in Ecuador" results from the cooperation between the Portuguese environmental NGO GAIA and the Ecuatorian Seed Guardians Network. Eight Portuguese young volunteers will be hosted for 12 months by Seed Guardians Network. The project includes four different activities, taking place in different locations in Ecuador, namelly "Finca Sarita and Sarampión Community" (Activity 1), "Caimito Ecovillage and Community" (Activity 2), "Tola Chica Community and SGN Coordination Centre" (Activity 3) and "Four Agroecological Farms" (Activity 4). Volunteers will be integrated in the daily functioning of agroecological initiatives, will contribute to projects directed at the local community and will participate in events of the Network. The main objective is that volunteers learn and experience with Seed Guardians' initiatives and methodology and later apply this knowledge in Portugal, through GAIA. Thus we aim to strengthen the cooperation bridge between Europe and South America, through GAIA and the Ecuatorian Seed Guardians Network. The themes concerned in this project are (Sustainable) Development Cooperation and Environment, in particular through the theme of Food Sovereignty and Agroecology.The volunteers will be prepared and trained as a group and will act as a social and personal network throughout the project, in its preparation, implementation, evaluation and follow-up phase.
