See the Heart
Start date: May 18, 2016, End date: May 17, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Every day, all over the world, ordinary people must flee their homes for fear of death or persecution. Many leave without notice, taking only what they can carry. Many will never return. They cross oceans and minefields, they risk their lives and their futures. When they cross international borders they are called refugees."- United Nations "The Refugee Project"(www.therefugeeproject.org). With "See the Heart" project we tend to raise awareness about these situations among young people. We want to make them think deeper about the topic and learn more about this issue and help in solving the problems Europe faces now every day. Together with our partners we have decided to create a project curricula, which will educate young people about this common problem and this not very often debated topic into the community. We believe that this project will be a great initiator of social dialogue between young people and the community they live in, especially by providing various outputs in form of video lectures, audio materials and creating artistic drawings and comics. They will get skills and knowledge to become educators in their communities and help their friends, relatives and other people to understand the other side of the story and to 'see the heart'. We are aware of the sensitivity of the topic and with the partners we decided to create the youth exchange as a event, a project, where young people will do great things about the future of other young people, for refugees and asylum seekers. The countries involved in the project, especially Italy in recent time, have been touched by the current refugee crisis. We strongly believe that with this project we will significantly contribute to greater understanding, greater knowledge and inspire people to act. This project is inspired by the State of the Union 2015: Time for Honesty, Unity and Solidarity speech by the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker. We believe that everyone of us can contribute to achieving the greater goal, reaching a good and quality life for people who suffer and have been endangered. We also relate this project initiative with the work of United Nations and UNHCR priorities and mission. We believe that at this moment, learning more about refugee and asylum seekers and the issues they face, as well as inclusion of these people matters a lot. Through this project we will 'see the heart' of the problem and the heart of the people who face these problems. 196 Paesi with its experience in media and outreach through the Internet network will also try to create digital materials in forms of videos which will help us spread the word about the topic even further. The partners from Spain, Estonia, Czech Republic and Macedonia will also assist in the art part, and the creation of audio-visual materials. "See the Heart" project touches many fields, but we have 3 main priorities:- teaching young people about the topic of refugees and asylum seekers- increasing awareness about the problem - providing relevant information to the wider public about the topic by using different media.
