The MOVE Week BG provides the opportunity for 2 young people from different European (and partner) countries to be EVS volunteers in the office of BG Be Active Association (BGBAA), based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The main theme dealt with is grassroots sport and its different components – sport and health, sport and young people, sport for disadvantaged groups – through the implementation and coordination of the MOVE Week BG, which is part of ISCA’s NowWeMove campaign and the European MOVE Week – initiative to tackle physical inactivity all over Europe by engaging local MOVE Agents and local organisations in the provision of sport and physical activity opportunities for all. The project is an expression of BGBAA’s commitment to development and transfer innovative multilayer programs in the sector of physical activity for well-being and health, through the promotion of grassroots sport and its social and health benefits, and by that to change the situation in Bulgaria in a positive way. This project not only allows the participating volunteers to be involved as active European citizens in BGBAA, based in Plovdiv, but it also makes an impact all over Bulgaria and Europe by promoting European values, volunteering and healthy lifestyles. It will provide the volunteers with a unique learning experience. Through their involvement in a wide range of activities they will improve key competences and gain a wide range of skills such as teamwork and project management skills. BGBAA and sending organisations will gain increased inspiration and capacity as regards international and intercultural competence, and better networking opportunities for the future as a result.
