Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

As one of the schools that have received an official seal as a "European School" in North Rhine-Westphalia we have a particular interest in the internationalization of our teachers. Stays abroad enable them both through the course programmes but also through contacts with teachers from other European countries to exchange information and to extend and deepen their educational and scholarly competences. The exchange of experience with other teachers offers an opportunity to discuss questions concerning school and students, thus increasing professional competence. We have trained five teachers in different courses over the period of two years. One Mathematics teacher and one German teacher worked in the field of ICT, one colleague did a course on Irish History, Culture and Literature, one teacher was trained in methodology of teaching English as a foreign language and one colleague took part in a CLIL course. Thus, teachers of four different faculties were trained, so that there will be a wide foundation for the future work of our school. After the courses the participants informed their colleagues in their departments, followed by a staff meeting where some groups planned workshops that deal with the newly-acquired competences and they plan, in which form the results will be integrated into the teaching objectives of each faculty. The contact with course leaders and teachers from other countries that was established during our colleagues' stay abroad may lead to long-term partnerships in European school projects.
