The reduction of early school leaving to less than 10 percent of the relevant population by2020 is a headline target in the Europe 2020 strategy and one of the five benchmarks of thestrategic framework for European cooperation in education and training.Early school leaving is an urgent and serious problem, not only for individuals, but for society as a whole. Although the situation varies in different EU countries, the social phenomenon of early school leaving follows certain patterns. There is no single reason for leaving education or vocational training. There are many reasons – often highly individual – why some young people give up education and training prematurely: learning difficulties, social problems or a lack of motivation, guidance or support. That's why Loutraki Youth Center , an informal group based in Loutraki Greece with activities all around N.KORINTHOU has decided to implement the project 'Schoolies , a project about school leaving '' . At total 26 participants from Bulgaria , Croatia , Spain ,Lithuania and Greece will meet during the middle of November in Greece and with several activities they will to focus more on that phenomenon and propose reliable and ground to earth proposals . Our partners involved actively to the project and they are working together to scope the situation related to early school leaving in their partner countries, identify existence evidence of good practices, and develop an intervention model and toolkits to be used to prevent early school leaving. During our projects we will have the opportunity to visit local schools and discuss about the problem with students. We will use various working methods to foster growth of course participants: Lecturing, working in pairs / groups, role play, discussion, expert consultations and examples from practice.
