BACKGROUNDEarly school leaving is a problem affecting all European countries. Despite several initiatives carried out, today still about 14% of all pupils drop out of school each year. The School Safety Net project partners have identified four main issues having a relevant impact on early school leaving: - Necessity for early identification of students at risk - Difficulties in the integration of immigrant students- Students with learning disabilities- School bullying and violenceThe project partners have been or are involved in a number of European projects addressing each of the 4 issues mentioned. The results of these projects will be used as a basis for this new initiative that will build up on the successful past experiences.OBJECTIVEThe project will merge the results produced by in the framework of European projects already carried out on issues related to early school leaving. It will promote a strategy to prevent early school leaving by developing a “holistic” approach able to tackle contextually the 4 main issues mentioned above. The project will address contextually the main actors involved in the prevention of early school leaving (i.e. students, families, teachers, headmasters). These actors will be provided with exemplary success stories, learning materials, easy to use guidelines and case scenarios to be prepared to face several possible challenges in the prevention of early school leaving.ACTIVITIESThe project is developed along the following main activities:- Selection of success stories in the prevention of early school leaving- Selection of quality training materials, guidelines and documents on the topic of prevention of early school leaving - Collection of Teachers Experiences in dealing with the problem of early school leaving- Development of virtual case scenarios related to early school leaving.
