Our school has not been a pioneer in European activities. Occasional contact with French students have lon been the only activity crossing national boundaries. The same is true for CLIL teaching. It has ony been introduces hesitantly and only in some subjects. A part of the teachers' community even doubted the sense behind thes efforts. In the last years, however, the wind has changed. The European enthusiasm of our teachers is increasing and we are engaging in a more professional approach to European commitment. We officially partnered with a French school and we take part in a multilateral COMENIUS project. CLIL teaching is gaining ground. With Erasmus+ we would like to take another step towards the European opening of our school. We want to benefit form the commitment of our teachers for the European cause by professionalising them for the following steps. The language classes (French and English) shall convey intercultural competencies even better. Language can be taught by transferring knowledge about the respective countries. This thrives from the animated presentation of the teacher and can wake curiosity for our European neighbours. In Social Sciences enthusiastic teachers can best share the idea of Europe with their students. The CLIL teaching not only shows our students the importance of foreign languages, but also develops competencies they will need in their professional or academic future. Europe is a fact not only in global business but also in university life. The requirements for teachers have changed with the ongoing European unity. Therefore, we are glad that we have teachers who are ready to enhace their skills. We do know that a successful process creates further enthusiasm and regard this project as yet another step to develop our teachers' aptitudes. We would like to reinforce thos process by sharing the knowledge in the respective commetees of our school to pass the enthusiasm on to the rest of the staff of our school.
