Schiffer-Berufskolleg RHEIN is a spezialised vocational college that is only focussing on the topics "vessel and port". Thereby Schiffer-Beruskolleg RHEIN is unique in Germany and active across national borders. The main focus is on education in inland navigation. Apprentices are continuously on the way on all European Waterways from the Black Sea to the North Sea. Due to this specialisation all vocational colleges focussing on this topic have founded the Network "Education in Inland Navigation" (EDINNA). Very different to other colleges Schiffer-Berufskolleg RHEIN has to compete with other European colleges that mostly are subject to very different national foundings and legislations. The local budget available for training of teachers is very low. Therefore all projects are intended to qualify the teachers by providing technical and linguistic training so that Schiffer-Berufskolleg RHEIN will be a reliable and qualified partner for the sector in dual training. Trainees will get the best possible professional qualifcation and entry to the labour market. Therefore the knowledge about workflow and techniques in Europe has to be updated and added or deepened with linguistic skills in the foreign language English. Curricula, processes, conditions and trends of other European educational institutions for the sector inland navigation and logistics along the river Rhine, with a special focus on the Netherlands and France, have to be known.
