SBBS Technik Gera Mobil – europäischer Erfahrungsaustausch für Kfz-Auszubildende
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

BackgroundIn the context of the town partnership between Gera and Arnhem as well as the Erasmus+-project "Consistent Way" several meetings between the colleagues of SBBS Gera and Rijn IJssel College have taken place since 2014. Both partners developed the desire to establish a cooperation and are willing to work together in the future.ActivitiesThe project 'SBBS Technik Gera Mobil – europäischer Erfahrungsaustausch für Kfz-Auszubildende' gives six students from the automotive field of SBBS Gera the chance to take part in a three-week internship in Arnhem. The students will be in their second or third year of their vocational training. During the internship the students will take part in the classes of the automotive field for one week. The first challenge will probably be to communicate in English language. The school attendance should help the students to quickly get in contact with local students. The students will get to know the College as well as the city of Arnhem with it's many young people and they will notice that a multicultural population lives together.Additionally to the attendance in regular theoretical classes the students are also going to be integrated in an automotive workshop where they will work during the second and third week of their internship. Due to their vocational training within the dual system the students are used to work practically in certain companies so it will be easy to integrate them into local teams. The project is set to run for two years (24 months), beginning in July 2016. It's proposed to send three students per year.Project aimsWith the help of the project the quality of both, the professional and linguistic competences of the students as well as openness for socially, linguistic and cultural diversity should be encouraged. Key competences like independence, self organization, adaptability, capacity for teamwork, openness, communication skills and sociability should be promoted through the mobility. Furthermore, their personality will mature as well. Additionally to that, the chances at the labour market might improve for the youngsters. For SBBS Technik the project means an important step towards internationalization. On the one hand, teachers should become more open minded and sensitized for this idea. On the other hand, local networks should be developed and strengthened. The relationship to Rijn IJssel should be more strengthened and In parallel the existing network Gera-Arnheim shall receive further input in the educational field.Processes for project implementationThe project managers will present the contents and aims to the teaching staff. Additionally important information regarding the project will be displayed in a showcase in the schoolhouse. The teachers are going to inform their classes refering to the modalities of application and fixed deadlines. After receipt of the application documents the participants will be chosen according to school internal fixed criteria.Mrs. Baum is going to invite the participants to a preparation meeting to discuss all the important things. At the meeting all important documents will be handed out and the participants are going to sign the agreement. The agreement is designed in a way that it contains both the commitment of the students as well as privacy aspects.Generally the students are going to stay in Arnhem for three weeks in order to visit the college and work practically in an automotive workshop at the same time. They will learn to know land and people during their stay as well as extend and improve their language skills. After finishing of the internship they will hand over their completed work tasks to the subject teacher for assessment. In addition they will provide proof to the realization of the tasks formulated in the agreement.Long-term useNext to the personal benefit for each student - like improvement of linguistic abilities and key competences - the acquisition of international vocational competences will be supported and chances at the labour market will be improved.SBBS Technik sees it as an important task to let students and teachers participate in the process of Internationalization of dual vocational training as well as develop and broaden their personal competences. For us this application is a first step to embed our internationalization in the context of the 'Autonomous School'.
