PROJECT
FINISHED
Our project was made up of young participants from various EU countries that are at risk of abuse or addition in some form or another. Some of these participants are subject to addictions or abuse and others have overcome these problems. This diversity of the participants allowed for great learning outcomes for the project as young people from many countries were able to share and exchange their knowledge and experience on the subject, giving those at risk the tools to deal with the problems they face, and also helping those in trouble overcome the problems. By allowing the young people to share their experiences it is easier for them to learn as they are learning from their peers and not an authority figure, this has proven to be more successful in the past.
The objective of the project is to allow youth to discuss problems about abuse and addictions freely with their peers and to share these experiences. As the group is diverse in their experience about abuse and addiction we hope that this will allow for the youth to gain the tools needed to deal with the daily challenges and to overcome problems and the pressures of succumbing to abuse and addiction. Mainly we aim to give our youth the courage to speak up about these problems and give them the courage to ask for advice when it is needed and also to identify problems in their communities and to help those at risk.
We had such a diverse group of young people eager to learn and to contribute, to share their fears, their experiences and their knowledge with each other. One of the groups of young people were from an area so poor and exposed to drugs and abuse that showed the others how difficulties in life could influence lives and youth. In particulate this group of people had a young member of their group who committed suicide several months before the project and this has a great impact on the group, by sharing the story with the participants of the project, we saw that the young people realized just how much support is needed in a community but even more so the need to have access to information and support to help young people make the right choices in life and more specifically to help young people make the right choices. This was a great motivating point in our project as it made the issue very real and allowed the participants to respect the problems more and give more focus on finding solutions in their own countries.
