SAFE-DOCK: Improving work safety for dockworkers, through the use of new information technologies
SAFE-DOCK aims to minimise work related risks to dockworkers working in the maritime goods transport sector through the improvement of continuous professional training regarding work safety, making full use of information and communications technologies (ICT).Objectives of the project include: evaluation and detection of work related risk for sector workers (by type of job); networking with relevant professional bodies and Social Partners; awareness-raising within the target sector with regard to work related risk; development of a continuous training tool on work safety; development of ICT skills in the sector through use of the continuous training tool; profile raising within the sector of the need for continuous training in work safety thus minimising risk to sector employees. The training tool itself will comprise 4 modules: awareness-raising of the importance and need for training access on work safety; introduction to ICT; introduction to work safety and risk prevention; work risk prevention in the sector (comprising best practice examples and using accident simulation techniques).A dedicated project website and CD-Rom will be developed, supported by a final project report (in BG, IT, EL & ES) outlining the processes, methodologies and results. Specialist mailings and a press release will support dissemination of the project results.
