The Sacred Heart College of Management and Service Industries at Riedenburg, Bregenz is currently attended by 154 students. At our school students get both a comprehensive general education and a sound vocational training in management and service industries over 5 years. Students do not only develop theoretical knowledge but also practical skills which they can apply and put into practice directly in careers in the private and public sectors as well as in the tourism, service and catering industries. Foreign languages play a very important part in our school curriculum. English and French as well as English and French for Business and Tourism are compulsory subjects. Students doing a HLW have excellent communicative skills in both their mother tongue and foreign languages such as English, French and Spanish. The curriculum of the college provides for mandatory work-placements of a total of 12 weeks between their third and fourth years of training. In the summer of 2015 36 college students have signed up to do their obligatory internships in hotels abroad, in France, Malta, England, Scotland and Ireland. A practical training abroad offers ours students the possibility not only to gain practical experience in their field of training (kitchen management, nutrition, service skills, etc.) but also to acquire unique international experiences. Students are given the opportunity to look beyond their own national boundaries, to experience a touch of Europe and to get a feel for the true European spirit. They can enhance their language skills and gain intercultural compentence by participating in the Erasmus + mobility program. Graduates may start careers in the tourist and catering industries, in administration and in the private, public and services sectors, e.g. as managers of communal kitchens and canteens, dieticians, specialists for kitchen and service, purchasers for the hotel and restaurant industry, hotel merchants, office workers, account executives, etc. The five-year college also provides university entrance qualifications.
