S1-L08 Erasmus Mundus Partnership for Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova (EMP-AIM)

The project aims to build a structured and sustainable partnership between the European and Eastern
Europe region Universities to strengthen academic, cultural, economic collaboration between the
countries. The Partnership is built around 8 European Universities (from Lithuania, Austria, Hungary,
Italy, Latvia, Slovakia, Spain, and UK) diverse in their geographical location, size, profile and 13 Higher
Education institutions from Eastern Europe region countries (Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova): 9 partners
and 4 associate partners.
Structured cooperation among the Universities shall be implemented by organization and
implementation of the mobility, open to undergraduate, master, doctoral students, post-docs and staff
members between the European and Eastern Europe region Universities. Thus it will contribute to the
intercultural understanding, mutual enrichment of societies through developed actual skills, needed for
the societies, also openness and cultural sensitivity of personality with international experience. It is
hoped that experience of the enhanced quality of education in Europe shall give positive effect to the
career prospects (employability) for students in their home countries and further contribute to better
governance and social cohesion in the Partnership countries. The mobility flows will be balanced in
terms of countries, and shall pay attention to gender balance in the selection.
While organizing the mobility, the partners shall also build better opportunities for joint study
programmes and joint degrees implementation, and joint research projects. The Partnership shall
initially focus on several priority fields of studies such as Management Science, Education, Teacher
Training, Languages, Informatics, Law, Natural and Social Science, thematic areas of studies relevant
to the development strategies of the non-European partner countries.
Main objectives:
1. To contribute to the intercultural understanding, mutual enrichment of societies through developed
actual skills, needed for the societies, also openness and cultural sensitivity of personality with
international experience which will be gained in the mobility activities.
2. To strengthen academic, cultural, economic collaboration between the EU and targeted Eastern
European countries.
3. To give positive effect to the career prospects for students in their home countries and further
contribute to better governance and social cohesion in the Partnership countries.
4. To build better opportunities for joint study programmes and joint degrees implementation, and
joint research projects between the countries involved.
5. To enable good students from vulnerable groups with equal chances and thus spread European
social and democratic values.
