The main objective of our project is to familiarise the children welcomed at the creche La Souris Verte in Strasbourg to music. The european volunteer introduces the children to nursey rhymes and to traditional counting-out rhymes of his home country (Germany). He/she also plays music to them and brings them into contact with different instruments which they can play themselves (flute, small drums, castanets, small bells) to experiment different sounds and rythmes. The intention is that the children become actors at that moment of music and dance and sing with the volunteer in his/her language, that they do handicrafts or cook with him according to the seasons or seasonal celebrations. The volunteer explores different aspects of his/her culture based on the music of his/her country. According to their age group (from 3 months to 3 years), the volunteer should also study easy dances accompanying the played songs with the children. The goal is that the children get to know their body and are able to repeat easy dancing movements. Furthermore, the project allows the volonteer to gather a first experience in the field of infancy and discover a different culture by participating in the everyday life of the creche. The voluntary service lasts 11 months and allows the volunteer to become well integrated into the team and in Strasbourg.
