This territory presents a really low density, and it is suffering a process of depopulation and a progressively ageing of its population.Despite that, the territory owns the resources to develop a local economy based on high quality agroalimentary products and cultural, naturalistic and sport tourism. The informal group "Giovani del Sarcidano" created the project Ruract with the aim to build a context of formation and to incentivate young initiative, through an intercultural exchange with a group of young people from Extremadura (Spain). The project aims to increase the awareness of participants about the numerous resources and possibilities of development of european rural territories, in order to reinforce the capacity to elaborate new proposals and to launch a dialogue with the main local stakeholders. The project Ruract will increase the analysis and organization capabilities of the participants, it will offer them new incentives and entrepreneurial ideas to adopt in their territories and, at last, it will guarantee the establishment of a network of international relations between the participants and the local stakeholders of both countries, to put down the bases for future iniciatives in the rural development field.
