The project called “Develoment of the competencies in the service industries and crafts” is designed for students of the Secondary United School in Brezno. The students study in the teaching fields of innkeeper, joiner, manufacture of ready-mode clothes and in the study fields of catering industry, entrepreneur school and computer mechanic. Twenty four students will be participated in this project. The project is focused on student`s needs: the developing of professional, linguistic, cultural-social skills and competencies in the initial vocational training in the sphere of crafts and services.
The internship will take place in two countries and in four partner organizations. The first three organizations are the secondary vocational schools in the Czech Republic and the fourth organization is North West Academy of English in Northern Ireland:
1. The Secondary School of Hotel services and Gastronomy in Prague organizes four week internship for four students of gastronomy fields (waiter, cook) in the hotels and restaurants in Prague.
2. The Business Academy and Secondary technical school of General F. Fajtl in Louny assures mobility for four students in the field of manufacture of ready-made clothes in the school tailor`s workshop. During three-week mobility students go through the whole technology process of sewing clothes.
3. Secondary Vocational School and Secondary Technical School SCMSD in Znojmo arranges three week practice for four joiners in the companies focused on the production of furniture.
4. Nord West Academy of English in Londonderry secures five - week internship for twelve students. Four computer mechanics will be located at the University of Ulster in Londonderry where they will be participated on the management and maintenance of computers and their networks. Four students of entrepreneur school will carry out practice in the business companies and commercial firms. Four students will work in the different departments of catering industry as waiters and cooks.
The main aim of the project is to acquire new professional skills and personality growth of participants in order to improve opportunities to make them useful on the domestic and European labour market.
Another aim of the project is to works up the attraction and sense of technical vocational education especially for participants of the internship, secondarily for their schoolmates, parents and more general public. By means of dissemination of project results to motivate the other students, tutors, teachers of vocational practice to improve the quality of education and their personality growth.
It is supposed that the participants of the project will gain bigger independence, healthier self – confidence, adaptation in the new labour conditions and the participants will take over the models of good practice and competences in communication. Big portion of students in initial training in the teaching fields are students form social – weak environment and Rome families, and their financial background are difficult and complicated and the taking part of the individual activities is for our students also much more valuable because it is many times for most of them single opportunity of education in foreign surroundings.
From the implementation of the project we expect also the creation of the new products in the form of promotion brochures and the on-line two – lingual dictionary with vocational technical – technological terminologies for the individual teaching fields and three lingual collections of the formulas national meals of participating countries.
There is priority of use new experiences in conditions of school practice and consequently their transfer into the teaching syllabi of the school educational programme.
After completing the internship the participants of the project get Europass-Mobility, the assessment of students´ results by tutors and the certificate of completing internship from the partner organizations.
