Search for European Projects

Rozvoj jazykových a profesních kompetencí učitelů ZŠ a MŠ Kosmonautů 15
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school is located in industrial area with numerous international enterprises. Pupils need to be prepared for the open work market and master foreign languages, especially English. They need to be ready to communicate in international teams, solve problems, cooperate and be aware of cultural differences. School is implementing bilingual teaching in English language since 2013. On the other hand there is a lack of qualified foreign language teachers in our school. Language teachers are expected to use new methods and approaches such as CLIL, drama approach, using IT tools etc. for project work and sharing outcomes. To meet all these needs the school has prepared this project to help teachers to prepare for the 21 century classroom. Main objectives of the project are to internationalize school through taking part in international projects and learning about cultures and European values, to use cooperative and team work in international teams, to use innovative approaches, to increase language competences and fluency, to develop teachers´ professional competences and efficiency. 5 teachers will take part in the training and language courses; they will attend different courses covering their specific needs and interests. Elementary teachers who teach English language but have not studied foreign language at university will develop their language competency (3 teachers), learn methodology and approaches (CLIL) and one representative of school management will develop fluency (1 teacher - headmaster) and group management. One teacher who has studied English in long life program for teachers will learn new ways of using technology in school for creative team work and international projects (international projects and English language coordinator) Teachers and pupils of our primary school will benefit from the project directly, members of the community indirectly. Pupils will be taught by motivated teachers using innovative methods, approaches, appropriate methodology, and latest IT tools. Pupils will benefit from teaching materials, authentic materials and culture presentations. They will be involved in various international projects from etwinning to partnership projects such as Erasmus+, Edison or ACES. Local community will benefit from the lectures on different cultures and exchange visit projects when foreign participants will be accommodated in the families. We expect pupils to share with their parents what they are learning and experiencing, school website will bring information about project activities. We will inform mass media (e.g. local newspaper). One of the outcomes will be English club where pupils will learn creative approaches, English, and communicative skills. By the end of the project we will open 3 bilingual classes taught by teachers who took part in this project. Teachers will continue to increase their professional skills and language competences in long term courses in Ostrava after from the mobility and other teachers will be motivated and encouraged to learn languages. Communicative approach will be used in English lessons, that´s why teachers´ communicative skills need to be developed. CLIL approach will be used in other lessons where applicable. Project work on international pupil projects will be based on using IT tools, electronic communication (mail, social networks, Skype, blog, etwinning websites etc.)Teachers will prepare innovative learning materials and add them to the school database. If applicable, they will share knew skills with the others during teachers’ meetings or language teachers´ meetings. School management and the project coordinator will regularly meet with the participants and evaluate their needs, results and benefits of the project mobilities and the project itself. Evaluation tools and timetable will be prepared before the beginning of the project. Results will be implemented in the school program and possibly to lead to remarkable changes of teaching approaches; school Internet database will be enriched with the innovative lessons, and outcomes of the international projects started during the project will be published at the school websites. Information about the project will be published at the school websites to inform the local community and sent to the local mass media.
