Romanian Villages Speak Non-Formal is an EVS project that involves 5 volunteers aged between 18-30 from 3 different countries(Czech Republic, Portugal, Ukraine) who will perform a 9 months service in the village of Nocrich, Sibiu county, Romania where the National Organization of Romanian Scout is running since 2010 a youth centre. The project’s objectifs aim to contribute to the personal development of youth aged 18-30 by involving them as volunteers in the development of non formal activities for the children and youth from the village of Nocrich, to develop the volunteers’ skills of teaching foreign languages by involving them in activities of teaching languages to the children and youth from Nocrich by using non-formal education methods, to develop the volunteers’ skills as a youth workers by involving them in the activities developed at the Nocrich Scout Centre for children and youth and to work towards the development of each volunteer in order for him/her to acquire experience towards working at the development and promotion of Nocrich Scout Centre as a non-formal educational centre.
Throughout the project’s activities, the methods used in its implementation will always have at least one non-formal component, promotion of non-formal education and developing the volunteers competences in every step of the service being of utmost importance. The weekly schedule will include the following activities : weekly planning, after school for children and youth, documentation and “Self directed learning”, Romanian language classes, personal project, online promotion of Nocrich Scout Centre, activities for youth aged 12-18, foreign language classes for children and youth, activities for children aged 5-11, weekly evaluation, meetings with the mentor. The project aims to contribute to the personal development of the participants while involving them in the community of the village of Nocrich and the impact of the project will target as well the participants but also the community and the organizations involved in the project. The long term benefits of this project will result in a life-perspective change among the volunteers but also the community and the involved organizations.
