Over two years, partners from five EU member states will work together to explore and develop European Roma cultural heritage.We will: · Build a network of heritage organisations across Europe with interests in Roma cultural heritage· Develop a transnational network of Roma to enhance understanding and exchange ideas and knowledge about the diversity and commonality of European Roma cultural heritage at grass roots level · Organise and publicise activities, celebrations, festivals, and collections of heritage · Develop a website to capture and promote Roma cultural heritage· Disseminate & share our work· Act as a seedbed of activities to develop post-project· Act as a catalyst for further transnational cooperation between Roma and heritage organisations and between Roma communities· Promote a non-confrontational means of communication between Roma and non-Roma communities· Lay the groundwork for an application to the Council of Europe for the establishment of a Roma Route of Culture and HeritageThe project comprises:· A series of Roma cultural events in all partner countries, designed to explore and pilot ways of promoting Roma heritage including: musical performance, dance events, visual arts, festivals, lectures, workshops, a summer camp. Events will feature Roma artists visiting partner countries for performances· An interactive website promoting the Roma cultural events and allowing a wide range of people to contribute· 5 transnational meetings of Roma community representatives to support the project activities and promote understanding of diversity and commonality of European Roma cultural heritage. · 2 conferences, the first to attract political & media interest as the project launches, the second as a springboard from which to launch future cooperation· 3 further meetings of partners, and regular conference calls to embed collaborative working, & reflect on lessons learned· Records of lessons learned designed for the benefit of others
