Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Feb 28, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Rodalies de Europa is a long term (9 and 12 months) EVS project that Mundus Association coordinates together with the hosting organizations Mans a les Mans and 3 sending organizations from Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria. CONTEXTThe reception of the 4 volunteers will take place in 3 different contexts:Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Mundus Association), is a municipality located in the outskirts of Barcelona. It is considered a commuter town for many people working in Barcelona. Large part of the population has a migrant background and incomes for the families are usually below the average level of Catalonia. Marina’s neighborhood, (Mans a les Mans Foundation), is located in the city of Barcelona and according to a study done in 2010 it has a lot of features that make it different from the rest of the city. The study indicates that the birth rate in this neighborhood is the highest compared with the rest of Barcelona’s neigbborhoods, and that there is more population from the rest of Spain than from Catalonia. At the same time, the family’s income is slightly lower than in all other neighborhoods of Barcelona.OBJECTIVES- Provide the opportunity to youth from Europe to live a volunteering experience.- Promote the integration of people across Europe in local communities.- Support the development of non-formal education programmes.- Facilitate learning experience and youth mobility in Europe.- Promote active participation and coexistence among young Europeans.- Encourage Young people to become multipliers of European Voluntary Service.- Empowering local communities welcoming new young people across Europe.- Encourage the opportunity for personal commitment to international volunteering activities.NUMBER AND PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTSVolunteers’s profile should be people especially motivated and enthusiastic for living a new experience abroad and ready to learn through non-formal education.
