1. BACKGROUND-The need for this project came out from the recent migration crisis and influx of refugees and migrants which grew extremely within the Eastern Mediterranean and Western Balkan route. Negative trends (hate speech, racism, violent attacks) imposed from completely wrong perception of migrations started to produce unrealistic picture of people fleeing from war torn countries on the contrary to those who are engaged in criminal activities such as terrorism. Additionally, one of the most disconcerting developments in recent years in Europe is the increasing support for nationalist and racist movements, as well as the establishment of a culture of xenophobia. Such negative opinions and trends are influencing and burdening lives of already existing national minorities/ethnicities in the countries of EU and Western Balkans and it is becoming evident that intolerance between minority communities and majority of the population is rising. This project will focus on youth and help them to:Learn and broaden their knowledge on promoting diversity, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, common values of freedom, tolerance and respect of human rights; Understand that intercultural dialogue is to learn to live together peacefully and constructively in a multicultural world and to develop a sense of community and belonging; That Intercultural dialogue can also be a tool for the prevention and resolution of conflicts by enhancing the respect for human rights, democracy and the rule of law; To be able to respect diverse minority groups already living in their countries as well as young migrants/refugees arriving to their countries in cases if/when EU borders close and further in future support and help in their integration, education and understanding of eastern -western values, cultures and religions; To act as agents of change in their communities towards negative trends and behaviors currently rising across the EU; Finally it will support the idea of engaging youth to actively participate in the society and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity through non-formal education. 2.
