Réseau d'Entraide Volontaire 2014
Start date: Jul 1, 2014,
End date: Dec 31, 2015
PROJECT
FINISHED
The volunteer project proposed by the association Solidarités Jeunesses REV stems from this association's desire to allow for the creation of a place and a dynamic focused on social diversity, common tasks, intercultural exchange and learning; participants will have the tools necessary for bringing about personal as well as professional development.
3 volunteers from Armenia, from Ukraine, and from Spain will be hosted at the REV for 12 months starting in September 2014.
This project will take place in the small village of Beauvoisin, in the region of Languedoc Roussillon, and it is intended to be of an open nature that will allow this diverse group of people to learn about each other, and about how to live with each other, moving beyond linguistic, sociocultural, and socioeconomic barriers, and especially moving beyond prejudices.
The permanent employees of the project, with the help of local volunteers and elected officials, hope to propose and realize a collective project which will focus on local activities, the international exposure of this rural location, and the incorporation of people with fewer opportunities. Moreover, this project is intended to further the personal development of the young European volunteers people involved by means of a stimulating program of collective volunteering, training, and interaction with others. This project will also promote the civic engagement of young Europeans by means of their participation in the heart of a general interest project. Lastly, it offers to volunteers a unique intercultural experience which will facilitate a better understanding of others and of the current European situation.
Thanks also to the energy that these volunteers will invest in the daily life of the community, sharing their ideas and their culture with a population infrequently exposed to international activity, we believe that they will contribute a great deal to local development and that they will demonstrate a certain facet of youthfulness, namely that of youthful activity and solidarity.
