PROJECT
FINISHED
"The project is based on warmly welcomed previous Researchers’ Night 2007,2008 and 2009 experience. This European initiative becomes each year more popular in Slovakia among variety stakeholders. There however remains room for improvements and the project RN2010SVK differs from the previous years under the following aspects:• even more focus on ""researchers as ordinary people"" rather than on science general promotion as during the previous events; the Researchers' night is now sufficiently known and familiar to the population to operate such re-orientation;• regionalization of the events in 2010 project – having two strong central events in Bratislava (capital of Slovakia representing 50% of science potential in Slovakia) and in Kosice (biggest city in Eastern part of the country and second largest science base in Slovakia) for the first time, including other smaller events through Slovakia;• diversification of the awareness campaign in 2010 including usage of innovative means as Facebook and other instruments;• despite having no specific target group, strong orientation on young generation and attracting pupils and students to the events;• stronger than ever EU dimension of the projects, as 3 EU Corners are planned – 2 in Bratislava and 1 in Kosice. As to the programme of activities, it will be built around the following axes:• Science shows and interactive experiments and demos of science• Science cafés and interactive workshops• Interactive exhibition about the famous Slovak scientists “Masters of the Mind”• Drawing competition and small quizzes within the events• Science party on the Friday nightThe project as such will have one common theme – Biodiversity (not excluding other themes), as 2010 was declared as the International Year of Biodiversity and states are encouraged to take advantage of the Year to increase awareness of the importance of biodiversity by promoting actions at the local, regional and international levels."
