"The ResKitchLab: Researchers in the Kitchen proposal consists in two different activities which are very relate to each other. First, six main Events on the 24th September 2010, which will gather around 15000 people, organised by seven public entities: UdG, UMU, CNIEH, CSIC in Galicia, FULP and UniOvi. Second, a whole project period event starting at the very beginning of the project. The different activities related to the second event will help to disseminate the 24th event.The main objective of the project is to enhance the recognition of researchers and their role in society, focusing in one of their mission: as a communicator of their research and using a tool that everybody knows and has: a Kitchen. The role of the project will go around the questions of: What’s Doing a Researcher in a kitchen?The Events will be implemented using different activities.- 1. Event 2.0: Two different subprojects will be prepared for this activity. First, a website project based on videos showing researchers on their own kitchen both cooking and explaining something related to their field of expertise: The Kitchen your Lab. High school student will be asked to record a video performing some experiment in the lab or in a kitchen: High School Video Competition.- 2. Decathlon: Previous to the Researchers’ Night Event, during the morning and early afternoon of 24th September, a special research Decathlon competition will be prepared for young people.- 3. A Night in the Kitchen: A Researchers’ fair will be performed during the whole Event, where the proposed experiments will be shown in vivo. The final part of this activity will have a festivity character, where different actions will take place. This activity will be labelled as “Have Fun with Research”.- 4. Drawing a Researcher in a Kitchen: The analysis of the drawings will be used to tackle the existing stereotypes about researchers and have a reliable assessment of the project activities."
