Rencontres Européennes Utiles en Savoirs et Sympathiques, dans les Institutions Tolédanes en Espagne
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The target students for the Erasmus + mobility project at Frederic Mistral vocational school are in their final year of training in the European sectionwith Spanish. Four of them are studying to be electro-technicians, four to be painters and decorators and eleven to be HVAC technicians and nine energy systems installers. The goal is to have the students – the most serious of them - do their internship in Spain. During the school year, they have a one-hour Content and Language Integrated Learning lesson and two one-hour Spanish lessons per week. The students will do their internship in Toledo, Spain again because we have close links with our two partner schools ( I.E.S Universidad Laboral and l'I.E.S. Azarquiel) there. We have managed to build a long-term relationship with them since 2008 and to continue the project in spite of the Spanish economic crisis. In addition, Toledo city council is now willing to work with us.The students will stay at the IES Universidad Laboral boarding school during the week and in a university residence at weekends. As we have done in the past, some members of staff from our school will stay in Toledo with our students : Mrs Testut and Mrs Arhoune, chief education advisers and Mr Cereso, the man who teaches painting and decorating in our school. They accompanied the students last year (2015) and would be delighted to do it again. What’s more, I.E.S Sefardi now offers cultural workshops on Thursday evenings. The I.E.S Universidad Laboral - Mrs Charo Rubio, Victoria Esteban and Maria Angeles Gonzalez – are still willing to organise day trips to Madrid and other cultural activities. The other members of the teaching staff that are willing to take part in the project are the same as those who took part in 2015. Mr. Rouy teaches CLIL in electro-technology and renewable energies, Mr. Cerezo teaches CLIL in painting and decorating and Mrs Callis teaches Spanish as a second language. The project is led by Mrs Jeannest, the head of the school, Mr Cerdan, the deputy head, Mr.Thomas, the accountant and M. Melan, the person in charge of the school workshops. The main goals of our vocational school are:o To improve the number of students who pass the vocational high-school examination. o To create an awareness of other countries in order to attract more students to our vocational high-school as we are planning to open a European class with English in 2015 .o To open a new English European section in electro-technology preparing students for the Aeronautics Initiation certificate and another one in construction work. Mr Delmas who teaches construction would like to start CLIL with Spanish and English in construction work.o To improve our reputation among future parents and educational organisations.o To develop new ways of teaching through exchanges with Spanish teachers who are our partners in the Erasmus + project.o As always, we would like the students to do their entire internship i.e. six weeks in Toledo, Spain. It would be best to do the internship in November and December as some students’ knowledge will be assessed from January to June. We would need the first two months of the school year to prepare the students for their internship in Spain, to carry out administrative tasks and of course to organise their stay in Spain (booking of cultural visits, lessons to learn Spanish). We anticipate that this mobility project will impact the students in a number of ways.On a vocational level, we are certain that they will acquire new ways of working and on a personal level that they will be more mature, more self-confident, and more open-minded and of course have a knowledge of Spanish.
