The project EUREGIO deals with regions and regionalism in the European Union (EU). Lille 1 University, one of the most internationalised universities in France, and the political and professional stakeholders of the region, are particularly concerned by this topic: since January 1st 2015 Lille legally became the Métropole européenne de Lille (Lille European Metropolis), Région Nord-Pas-de-Calais will be united to Région Picardie in 2016 to become a greater region adapted to European scale, and these territorial authorities are members of the first European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) that was created in the EU in 2009: the Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai.The project combines teaching, research and events, and delivers three types of activities:- five (5) Semaines Jean Monnet de Lille (SJML: Lille Jean Monnet Weeks);- two (2) Ateliers Jean Monnet de Lille (AJML: Lille Jean Monnet Professional-Academic Workshops);- one (1) Conférence Jean Monnet de Lille (CJML: Lille Jean Monnet Conference) that concludes the project. The main objective is to broaden and to promote a shared reflection and discussion between academics, political and institutional stakeholders, and civil society organisations. Many activities are opened to the public and will foster the dialogue between different participants who are involved in European Union issues. Teaching activities are delivered in English, the other activities are bilingual French-English and the workshops deliver professional training to the student. The project is based on the network of academic, professional and civil partners of University Lille 1 and on the Master’s curriculum Eurostudies (European Studies on Territorial and Urban Development).Several deliverables for diffusion and dissemination will impact on the target groups and on the general public. A monitoring committee is set up, and different tools and indicators will be used to measure the expected results of the project.
