PROJECT
FINISHED
We are a school that has links all around the world. We have recently had visitors from Iceland, USA, Australia, Taiwan, Sweden, Canada and Germany. We have also sent our manager and owner on trips to Canada and the manager to Italy and Sweden. It is our ever increasing aim to make what we do here an international method. We combine Montessori and Reggio Emilia and use the project approach to deeply cover topics that would normally be dealt with in secondary school.
We use language that is rich and inspiring. We provide children with inviting, provoking and exciting activities. These activities we discover from the sharing of ideas on international websites or from firsthand knowledge from visiting other countries. These are combined with our own ideas, which are heavily based on starting with the child's interests and from the knowledge of the parents.
The school we are collaborating with use a bi-lingual approach. We are always looking into ways to improve practice and for many years we have seen the benefits of early language development. This will be the opportunity to see first hand how this works within a school. We will at the same time be able to explore the High Scope approach, which similarly to us, goes from the interests of the child. We are interested to see how in practice, this truly enriches the outcomes of the children.
We aim to share the knowledge we gain with other Early years Professionals in England. We are keen to develop seminars and training courses for the wider teaching community in order to fully use what we learn.
We feel by involving the owner and the manager, we are sending the highest qualified teachers to learn about the approach. This will enable us to fully understand the pedagogy and the approach whilst at the same time, enable us to reflect on our own practice.
We believe in a Community of Practice where ideas are shared between professionals. It has always been our goal at High House to educate children as well as to provide them with a stable secure place to grow up in. It has and is our goal to teach students and apprentices at High House with the best possible pedagogy.
