The REGENERANDO network focused its exchangeon reinforcing the role cities play in shaping employmentpolicies. Since starting work in March 2004 this network hasheld a total of 9 working meetings including internationalconferences and expert meetings. These meetings havecovered topics such as the irregular economy, employmentpolicies for target groups like young people, older people,long term unemployed and ethnic minorities and use of ICTin employment policies.The presence of a large number of Italian partners in thisnetwork could be due to the fact that Italian Municipalitiesencounter a lot of problems when dealing with employmentpolicies, not to mention the fact that the countrys paralleleconomy and illegal work situation are far worse thanin any other Member State.At the beginning of the REGENERANDO partnership,the eleven city partners reviewed their city centre strategieswith regard to employment issues and this information wasdeveloped into a matrix which was then used to identify5 categories for action:1. State of Action including financial resources and targetgroup2. Actions directed against the irregular economy3. Actions encouraging employment4. Actions encouraging economic developmentwith employment impact5.
