#refugeeswelcome will be a youth exchange bringing together young people from Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Spain and Portugal from 19th - 24th July, 2016 in Senderiz, Spain. This exchange will involve young people from different European countries who will gather to discuss the role of young Europeans in the current refugee crisis in Europe. They will interactively learn about topics such as ethnocentrism, xenophobia, racism, stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, intolerance, the difference between multicultural and intercultural societies, etc. This will be done through different non-formal educational methods that will also grasp intercultural learning as the participants coming from very different geographical and social backgrounds will find themselves in a multicultural environment working towards achieving an intercultural understanding of the issues of discrimination, combating prejudice and reaching a more equal European society that accepts and integrates refugees. The participants will create different video and other online material and explore ways of using social networks on the internet for promoting solidarity and raising awareness about the issues of refugees in Europe and ways that youth activism can contribute to its solving. The Exchange will empower youth activists to take action by offering concrete tools and relevant information and thus enabling them to be active citizens of Europe.
