PROJECT
FINISHED
The project "REFLECT community center" reflects the needs of the local community in Žilina and gives a helping hand to disadvantaged children, young people and families in crisis through its activities, and by hosting young volunteers from abroad who will be actively involved in the center's activities. The project will implement various support programs such as: creating safe spaces for meeting and leisure time activities, that are available to socially and economically disadvantaged children and youth, language courses for mothers on maternity leave, unemployed people, counseling for families in high-risk areas such as: addiction, pornography, family finances ... , training basic skills for young mothers, systematic work with children in community kindergarden.
Project activities were realized for the 10 volunteers from Hungary, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic and Great Britain. Five volunteers were comming for 2 months and 5 volunteers were comming for 12 months.
The project brought more opportunities for the participation of disadvantaged groups in community life, changing the values and views of young people coming from the street and of those who don’t have opportunities to experience other cultures or serve other people , new opportunities for the unemployed and new activities for developing creativity in children and youth . We also expect the project will develop cooperation with local non-profit organizations, schools and other countries .
After the project’s completion we continue to work and host volunteers because we believe that community work must be systematic and long-term.
