Start date: May 1, 2010,
The project "Read Me Live" is aimed at promoting reading through live literature. A number of literary evenings, interviews with authors, gala literary events will be organized with established European writers to attract a large audience. A direct exchange between authors of the respective coorganisers and other countries will be ensured. A series of other events will be conceived of with the aim of establishing a direct exchange between the author and the reader.Literary events, discussions on literature, presentations of literatures and books will all be rounded off by a unique web portal dedicated to live literature. Initially, the portal will contain live performances of established European authors who will appear at the presented events organized by the coorganisers festivals. Subsequently, it will grow to host all the most prestigious live literary events in Europe. Its function will be manifold: firstly, it will become an archive of best live performances of acknowledged European authors, secondly, it will work as a database of information on presented authors including the list of books translated into the partner's language, thirdly, it will open a forum of discussion. A special thematic focus of the Project will be the issue of the Reader. Debates will be undertaken to discuss reading habits, readers' profiles, the problems faced with educating a readership as well as an academic debate related to literary theory in the presented European countries. Its aim is to highlight commonalities and emphasize differences between the countries involved. Various events will be conceived to attract readers from all generations and profiles, including experts, students, the youth and elementary school pupils and the general public. The overall aim of the project is to create possibilities to promote cross cultural understanding and encourage intercultural dialogue through authors' exchanges, discussions, informal meetings between cultural mediators and author.
