Radviliškis-Bauska Intercultural Cooperation Developement
(RADBAU)
Start date: Nov 30, 2010,
End date: May 30, 2012
PROJECT
FINISHED
Project emerged from a number of challenges in the field of cultural cooperation between border region bodies. Therefore, project partners decided to deal together with these problematic issues by implementing the project. Ongoing cultural cooperation between Radviliskis and Bauska districts is not consistent, it mostly occurs in summer when weather conditions are favourable for holding events. This factor prevents formation of coherent and systematic cultural cooperation tradition between Latvian and Lithuanian border region inhabitants. Implementation of project activities will help establish two places of permanent assembly. Two premises – one in Bauska district and one in Radviliškis district will be reconstructed. These places of permanent assembly are planned to host cultural events, festivities for Latvians in Lithuania and Lithuanians in Latvia. This way both parties will promote cohesion and awareness on cultural issues. Project partners will develop a concept of common cultural cooperation. The concept assumes creating a joint culture event calendar. Some culture events will be implemented as pilot projects in scope of the project to see how it is and what can be improved. People working in the field of culture will raise their skills and competences, especially for representing their culture to another country and also for organising attractive events targeting general public. Higher competence will directly influence the quality and consistency of cultural cooperation.
