Public Communication Tools Use in NGO Activities

NGOs are working hard by solving social problems, but lack of information about them (organisations AND problems) are one of the reasons, why society are full of stereotypes about social vulnerable groups. By using media, awareness rising actions and other public communication methods it is possible to create opportunities for society to meet people from vulnerable groups and to know them. It’s also a possibility to create a platform for those people to talk ant to tell about themselves and about problems they are facing. The main aim of this project is to solve those problems by rising visibility of “Arci Catania” and National Institute for Social Integration activities in the field of youth work with socially vulnerable groups using public media tools, communication techniques and methods.
Aims of project:
- to share information and experiences between National Institute for Social Integration and Arci Catania in the field of youth work involving minorities and use of media and communication strategies. That would be achieved when sending volunteer to Arci Catania and receiving another volunteer from Arci Catania.
- offer a structured learning experience to motivated young peopleto enter in contact with a different culture, learn language, acquire competencies on how too work with public communication/visibily in the no profit sector in the Sicilian and Lithuanian context;
- contribute to changes in Sicilian and Lithuanian society and solving social problems related with human rights issues by contributing to the activities offered by Arci Catania to immigrants, refugees and young people. In terms of National Institute for Social Integration (NSII) and volunteer who will come from Italy NSII will offer media and human rights related activities which will raise the awareness for a volunteer and Lithuanian society of stereotypes, stigmas, social distance of particular society groups.
Methods which can be used to reach aims:
- Writing articles and stories (vulnerable groups);
- Awareness rising actions, providing opportunities for society to realize social problems, meet people from vulnerable groups and find out solutions of those problems;
- Other public communication methods aiming, propulsive organization and social problems publicity;
- Media research;
- Networking.
