Proyecto Tarqui +
Start date: Jan 1, 2015,
End date: May 31, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
The Tarquì + project has two main objectives: help people in vulnerability situations, especially immigrants, giving them tools to ease their social and labor integration and work to improve the cohabitation in multicultural environments.
The project is developed in Canary Islands, a region located in the middle of three continents, with big cultural differences. This is particularly true in Taco’s neighborhood, a suburb area of La Laguna city, where many immigrants have chosen to live.
In the project the volunteer will deal with non-formal education and personal social attention: first interviews, support to immigration procedures, teach basic Spanish and alphabetization classes, intercultural workshops and any other training that will help to improve the integration of those vulnerable people. The young participates should be independent, responsible, with a critical sensibility and willing to learn and propose new ideas that can enrich the project.
For the European volunteer (there will be only one volunteer at the time) it will be a great experience both from a personal and professional point of view. The project will contribute to improve the socio-labor integration of our attenders and the local cohabitation. This experience can also be adapted to other European realities, moving towards peace and social justice.
