Galway Simon Community has been providing services in Galway to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness since 1979. Our current services include five supported houses located in Galway City as well as several move-on accommodation options including 9 shared houses and 10 shared or individual apartments which in total, provide a home to over 70 people at any one time. The organisation also provides muti-disciplinary supports such as Occupational Therapy, Substance Misuse Counselling, Relapse Prevention Counselling, Learning, Education and Activities Development (LEAD) and Registered General Nursing Care. We also have an Outreach Service which provide support to people who are at risk of loosing their tenancy or those living independently and struggling for whatever reason to maintain their tenancy. Galway Simon Community employs over 100 people in various areas including social care, support and administration. We also have a team of over 100 volunteers who support our employees and enable them to deliver our services. Our Erasmus+ volunteers work alongside staff in our supported houses. Galway Simon Community is committed to empowering and working with people experiencing homelessness by providing the highest possible standards of care and raising awareness of the challenges they face in society.The work of our organisation is supported by a voluntary board of management who meet every two months to ensure the organisation is well run and meets it obligations as a limited company and registered charity.Galway Simon Community was founded by volunteers and continues to grow and develop its volunteer base who are at the core of our work.
