“Promoting national implementation for Sport Club for Health (SCforH) programmes in EU member states” –project is based on SCforH -project 2009-2011, which was supported by the EU Preliminary Actions for Sport 2009. As an outcome of the previous SCforH 2009-2011 work, SCforH guidelines were developed and published. The document provides guidance for sports clubs to develop, implement and promote health-enhancing sporting activities. Also, an European-level network around the issue was established and generated. This project is focused on two main objectives: 1) expert evaluation of previous efforts and efficacy in implementing SCforH programmes and guidelines, and 2) promoting national implementation of SCforH guidelines at both grass-root and governmental levels. The project consortium consist of universities and sport federations from 9 EU-countries (Finland as applicant, partners from Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Sweden). The project outcomes are: 1) Report of current status of the SCforH programmes in EU countries2) Recommendations for sport associations based on best practices on how to best support sport clubs to implement the SCforH Guidelines3) Scientific articles about the evidence base for SCforH programmes4) Updated SCforH guidelines5) A resolution about how to promote SCforH programmes in EU –countriesRecently the implementation of the SCforH programmes was chosen as an indicator to assess HEPA –levels and HEPA –policies in the EU member countries (The Council Recommendation on Promoting Health-enhancing Physical Activity cross Sectors, 2013). As highlighted on the White Paper of the Sport, one cornerstone of sport systems and HEPA are sport clubs. Therefore, grassroot-level sports clubs are in the main focus of this project. The dissemination of project outputs to the partner countries but also to the European level has a major part in the project.
