Our School is working towards modernisation. We have set a goal to help our teaching staff increase their skills and knowledge and use new student-centered teaching methods. We have also set a goal to help our students improve in language competence and sciences. Additionally we want to establish a European dimension in learning produced in our classrooms. For these reasons we are implementing the CLIL teaching method in one of our classes (Year 4). Our objective with this project is to train the teacher implementing CLIL. We want to provide the English teacher with all the skills and knowledge required to effectively teach a CLIL class. The participant in the mobility is not the only person to benefit. The impact of the training course will surely reflect on all teaching staff, all pupils and parent community of the school. We want to be ready to implement CLIL in more classes in the coming school year. There will be a preparation stage consisting of trainee preparation as well as observation (for evaluation and comparison purposes). The main stage will be the participation in the mobility by the selected participant and the follow up session. At the following up session we expect our trained member of staff to share gained knowledge with colleagues, peer CLIL teachers, parents community and policy makers in the field of education. We expect to distribute the products of the training activity (materials) to relevant target groups and give publicity to the project through school website, newsletter, sample lesson, information session and a seminar. We strongly believe that the success of this project will form the basis and provide the necessary contacts and networking to continue in establishing quality in teaching and learning and in achieving a European perspective for our school population.
