In our Senior Secondary School, more than one third of our pupils (220 / 725 in 2015-2016) follow some optional extra classes in English. They have two extra hours each week: one of English provided by an English teacher and another one of a subject taught in English (Biology or Mathematics or History-Geography) provided by qualified teachers but not specialists in English.
Two of these four teachers -the Biology teachers- were interested in having some training courses to improve their teaching skills (methodology and activities to improve the pupils' communication skills and the pupils' motivation) and developing their fluency in English. Two other members of the staff (one teacher and one secretary) were interested in improving their English.
This programme has been totally successful: the two training organisations that have been chosen provided very good activities and workshops that could be then used in classes or exchange programmes (with our twinned schools: Verslunarskoli islands (Reykjavik, Iceland) in September 2015 and Lyceon Lukkio (Tampere, Finland) in October 2015).
Many teachers and other members of the staff have shown an interest in the Erasmus plus programme when they have heard the feedback from the candidates and likely they would apply for another one in the coming years.
