FINISHED
Context/background of the project:
Our project addressed the industry needs of a constant influx of competence. Skilled workforce in the industry is an essential asset to develop a competitive, sustainable and innovative economy in line with Europe 2020 goals and flagship initiatives as well as the Swedish national goals of economic growth. The European commission identifies the problem as a skills mismatch. To decrease the skills mismatch, VET has to understand and implement knowledge in their education about European business and labour market needs. Our project has aimed to increase this knowledge between our participant and participating organisations through mobility.
The objectives of the project were:
a) Support VET-learners in the acquisition of competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) to improve their personal, professional development and employability by practical training in companies within EU.
b) Professional and personal development for VET staff focusing on modernising and internationalising their mission by creating a understanding European labour market skills demand by job shadowing/observation during a mobility period abroad.
c) Developing partnerships between educational institutions, social partners and the world of work to understand European labour market skills demand. Reinforcing the capacities of international collaboration.
Number and type/profile of participants: The project had 97 participants, 47 VET-learner and 50 VET-staff. The participating VET-learners and VET-Staff studied or worked in Swedish Upper secondary school national programmes with an industrial focus: The Electricity and Energy Programme; The Vehicle and Transport Programme; The Handicraft Programme; Industrial Technology Programme.
Description of undertaken activities: The activities of the project were VET-learners and VET-Staff mobility. VET-learners performed practical work based training in companies in EU and VET- staff mobility by observations and/or work shadowing of European colleagues.
Results and impact attained: The results of the project are improved personal, professional skills and employability for the participants. We will improve the skills of the participants in the project with regard to their relevance for the EU labour market, through increased opportunities for learning mobility and through cooperation in EU between the world of education and training and the world of work. The results for participating organisations will be developed partnerships between educational institutions, social partners and the world of work and reinforced capacities of international collaboration.
