Farmers and those living in rural areasare witnessing an increasing interest among tourists, and in the last few years haveseen the possibility to cater to a growing market for rural tourism. The PROTOUR project aims to meet the potential of this situation by:- Setting up a long-term operation with early planning – designing and implementing anonline exchange platform for rural tourism.- Involving the local population from the outset by setting up local study groups involvingfarmers, developers, project managers, trainers and institutions.- Fostering a habit of cooperation between the project partners. To respond to these needs, the PROTOUR project partnership aims to build a trainingtool to “professionalize” these actors on the ground by providing training in activities andskills necessary for rural tourism operators. We would achieve this aim through:- Different stages – reflection/analysis/design and application of the envisaged teachingsupports.- Implementing a map and summary to characterise rural tourism.- Preparing reference materials for activities and skills.- Designing curricula and training tools.- Training experience.- Disseminating and enhancing the results.
