The renewed Agenda for Adult Learning mentions the most important needs for the further development of the adult education sector. The results of studies like PIAAC and the Adult Education Survey (AES) show that the tasks for Adult Education are European and international ones. The project “Professionalisation and Qualitydevelopment in Adult Education” covers three main areas for the adult education sector: (1) Professionalisation, quality assurance and quality development, (2) Quality of teaching, methodology and didactics and (3) Educational policy: PIAAC and OECD skills strategy. 19 persons will participate in the project. These are senior managers (employed and volunteers), staff members which are planning, teachers and counselors. The project shall contribute to the improvement of the activities in educational policy and improve the management of adult education organisations. Strategies and examples of good practice in basic education and in the acquisition of key competences and in educational counseling shall get known. Further on the improvement of the pedagogical competences of teachers in adult education is intended and also an improvement in educational counseling. An intensification of European contacts and a broadening of European networks shall be effected. In the long term we expect the improvement of project-based and strategic co-operation of the partners in the consortium. The aspired improvement of quality in teaching and counseling shall secure a better access of vulnerable and disabled target groups and a sustainable retention in educational processes.
