Our school sends one of our English teachers to a teacher' s training (Advanced Language and Methodology). As Mrs Knigge mainly teaches in double-qualifying classes enabling students to reach the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife) and a vocational training as media assistants, it is very important to provide English lessons on a highly professional level. Students of these classes get the opportunity to apply for business-related internships abroad and need English to communicate and pursue their professional aims successfully. Moreover intercultural competence gained in the exchange with other teachers during this training, e.g. getting to know the specific features of other Eurpean educational systems, will be an enrichment for our students as well. Additionally we hope to increase our pool of language teaching methods to cope with the challenge of student groups with different levels of language skills. Getting to know and discussing new methods will help reconsider traditional teaching patterns and improve the teachers' abilities to come up to students' needs and demands. The outcome of this teachers' training will be shared and discussed within our team of English colleagues.
