Professional enhancement for inclusive child-care institutions
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

A group of 21 persons from Bavaria (Germany) consisting of professional advisors for early childhood education of non-statutory welfare organisations, teachers of vocational academies for social pedagogy and experts for early childhood professions from universities and ministries visited the early childhood education system of the city of Kajaani in the North of Finland for 5 days (07.-11.06.2015). The visit was coordinated by the Verband Katholischer Kindertagesstätten Bayern (VKKB) and the Landes-Caritasverband Bayern (LCV). The focus of the visit was to get to know the approaches and concepts for inclusion in the early childhood system of Kajaani and to get impulses for the staff and organisational development of the early childhood institutions in Bavaria. Inclusion is an important part of early childhood education. It was put forward by the UN-convention on the rights of persons with disabilities in 2009. However, the reality in early childhood institutions in Bavaria is still not very inclusive. Staff and organisational development and the mainstreaming of inclusion in early childhood professions are the keys to successful inclusion in the next years. On the basis of job-shadowing and presentations and discussions with experts of early childhood education in Kajaani the participants got familiar with examples of good practice and concluded possibilities for transfer to the Bavarian system of vocational initial and further training of early childhood professionals and to the organisational development for Bavarian early childhood institutions. In the middle and the long run the participants utilize their project experiences in their roles as VETs. They already integrated their experiences when working with staff of early childhood institutions and enriched the political debate on qualification needs and conditions for inclusive early childhood institutions with Finnish solutions. The participants received the Europass Mobility and a certificate issued by the project coordinator. The project results were disseminated in the working groups and the media of the VKKB and the LCV.
