Première expérience professionnelle à l'étranger en cycle SAPAT
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Background: The agricultural vocational high school Ker Anna ,hosts 370 students in their 3rd and 4th years of high school, studying for CAP and Bac Provocational qualifications in the town of Kervignac (Morbihan). The school has had a very close partnership with Euroschule Görlitz, a high school in Saxony, Germany since 2009. Objectives: - To promote geographical mobility among students through increasing learners' autonomy in language and logistic independence. - To promote a larger cultural curiosity and foster a sense of European citizenship among students. - To acquire and put into practice knowledge, know-how and life skills. - To promote interdisciplinary work within the school team. - To promote the exchange of teaching/work practices between European countries. Participants: The work placement will be offered to 4 students in Bac Professional section:"Service to people and to rural areas". These students study caring services for people with special needs. The trainees will be 18 to 20 years-old, from low income households, who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to study abroad and are not familiar with the workings of the EU. Activities: The placement will take place from 30th March to 17th April 2015 in kindergartens in Görlitz. These kindergartens look after children up to 6 years old, some children have special needs (physical, mental, social and/or language). A teacher will accompany the trainees on the outward journey and will introduce them, with the help of the German teacher, to their tutors. It will help the students to integrate into the kindergartens' teams and get used to the town of Görlitz. Methodology: The interdisciplinary team of Ker Anna high school and the team of Euroschule Görlitz will cooperate to set up the work placements and monitor the work programme and progress of the students from the 2 schools. The students will play an active role in the process, they will submit their application and they will be invited for an interview with a selection panel. They will take part in the travel and the placement set up. Preparation sessions will help them to think about their experience abroad and their return to France. The trainees will be autonomous in the last 2 weeks. The German coordinator and a French resident in Görlitz will provide help if required. The French team will remain in regular contact with the trainees. Back at school, they will write a report and present their experience to their classmates and the school council. Results and impact envisaged: The 4 students will gain autonomy and openness to European Union. They should pass on these values to the other students. These new skills will encourage them to have a greater mobility and therefore ease their transition into the working world. A greater cultural awareness and an increased self-confidence will foster a positive attitude towards learning. Potential longer term benefits: The interdisciplinary team plan to widen the destinations for work placements and provide opportunities for a larger number of students. An exchange of teachers and professionals between the 2 schools will enable the teams to share teaching and professional practices in health care and social services for children with special needs.
