Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The participants of the project will be a group of twenty students from the third class of Secondary Technical School giving a certificate of Technician of Food Technology and Veterinary Technician as well as students who attend the last class of Vocational School in the profession of a baker and a confectioner. The apprenticeship is planned as a three-week training. The participants of the project will go with their teachers. The apprenticeship will take part in Irish Small and Medium – Sized Enterprises (SMEs) of food processing in the following specializations: bakery and confectionery as well as in veterinary clinics. Our choice of Ireland as a country where we want to take the apprenticeship is caused by the fact that Ireland is a country with traditional agriculture. Moreover, food industry is the leading one and the Irish veterinary is considered one of the best in Europe. Development of this sector of industry is caused especially by breeding which is a basic and important element of Irish economy. Referring to above mentioned facts we can state that the apprenticeship in Ireland provides our students, who will work in food industry and veterinary, opportunities of professional development. During the training students who deals with food industry will familiarize with the organization and assortment of food production as well as with technological and technical solutions and logistic procedures which are different than in Poland or even are more innovative. They will be able to get to know systems of food health security and of quality assurance used in Ireland, too. Students' direct participation in food production will cause development of their manual skills which are needed in most of food companies such as bakeries and confectioneries (especially in SMEs) where production is handicraft. While veterinary technicians will have opportunities to learn about Irish veterinary clinics, particularly about their organization, equipment, treatment and ways of care of animals. The project also assumes that students will develop their skills connected with ways to care about animals, preparation of medicines and equipment, assisting in veterinary examination and surgery. The participation in this project gives our students a lot of new opportunities in some aspects. Firstly, they will get work experience, they will get to know different organization and work culture and also requirements for employees, thus they will be able to deal effectively with Polish and European labor market in the future. Secondly, the training will develop their personality. Participants will get the lesson of tolerance for other people coming from different countries, they will be more assertive and self-confident. Moreover, they will expend they interpersonal relationships which might be useful in their professional careers. Finally, our students also will get to know cultural heritage and modern face of Ireland. The other big advantage for students who will take part in this project is possibility to improve their English and especially vocational language, so their value and competences will increase in the labor market. The participation in the project also gives our school benefits. It allows our school to raise its prestige, get valuable experience in EU programs, make international contacts, motivate students who want to qualify to participate in similar projects. Professional knowledge of students and teachers, gained during the apprenticeship, will be used for vocational classes and practical classes and will extend their range with the new content. Veterinary technicians' training will be particularly important for our school, because we have started to educate the veterinary for two years. The benefit is also for Polish employers, because they will be able to use participants' experiences and skills during their training and future work. All participants will profit from the apprenticeship, because they will have long-term benefits and they will use their professional experience the whole life. Participants' knowledge and skills will be formally confirmed by documents, like Europass Mobility, an apprenticeship evaluation form and a language certificate. The implementation of the project includes some stages: the recruitment of participants, the professional, cultural, pedagogical and language preparation, the organisation of the aprenticeship and its monitoring, the popularisation of results, the evaluation and assessment of the project, the management connected with organisation of the project and its finances. All of these activities are implemented to gain all goals and the excellent quality of the project.
