Kursenai Polytechnic School, Public Institution, implemented project where students had a great opportunity to participate in international traineeships abroad, to work in real work placements. and gain valuable professional work experience. The project involves altogether 20 initial vocational training students, studying in their second or third year courses, based on auto-mechanics, joiner, cook, waiter and barman programs, 5 students from each program. These students already have theoretical knowledge about their speciality however they lack of practical skills and competences necessary for the job market. The main purpose of the project – to improve initial vocational training students’ from Kursenai Polytechnic School, PI professional and practical skills, and competencies required for the future job market though international mobility. During the project 20 students participated in one month duration practical traineeships in Portugal, Spain and Turkey’s business companies. Results of the project: - 20 students improved their strengths and gained new professional skills, knowledge and competences; - students’ learning motivation increased; - improved students’ personal and social competences, foreign language knowledge; - the practical traineeships were recognised as integral part of learning cycle; - the practical traineeships under ERASMUS+ programme were confirmed by Europass mobility documents and certificates, which helped (or will help) students to be more recognised and respected by future employers in Lithuania or EU after graduation. The impact of the project: - helped to implement two goals of 2013-2015 strategic expansion plan of the Kursenai Polytechnic School, PI; - the better training services of Kursenai Polytechnic School, PI and the better qualified professionals contributed to reduce the level of unemployment in Lithuania; - wide dissemination of project results of the project increased the image of Kursenai Polytechnic School, PI in society.
